Hot Tub Removal in Wilmington, DE
That old spa hasn’t been warm in years and it’s taking up half the deck. We cut it apart right where it sits, carry every piece out by hand and haul it all away, cover and steps included.
What we remove
Every kind of backyard spa
On a deck, on a concrete pad, under a gazebo or tucked behind a fence. If it held water and it’s done, we take it out.
Tearing out the deck or gazebo around it too? See construction debris removal.
How it comes out
A 600-pound tub through a 3-foot gate
Most hot tubs weigh several hundred pounds empty and are wider than any side gate. Rolling one out whole usually means a crane, a tipped-over fence or ruts across your lawn.
We do it the other way. The tub gets cut into sections on site with saws, and every piece is carried out by hand. It’s quieter, it doesn’t need heavy equipment, and the only thing left behind is the empty spot.
- You drain it and kill the powerAn electrician disconnects the 240-volt line. Drain the water onto the lawn, not the street.
- We cut it into sectionsCabinet panels come off, then the shell and frame are cut into pieces we can carry.
- We carry it out by handThrough the gate, down the deck steps, across the yard. No crane, no tracks in the grass.
- We clean up the spotInsulation foam, screws and scraps get picked up and the area is swept before we leave.
Hot tub removal cost
What hot tub removal costs in Wilmington
You get one all-in price on site, before any saw comes out. It covers cutting, carrying, hauling and disposal fees.
The price depends on the tub’s size and build, whether it sits on a deck or at ground level, and how far and through how tight a path we have to carry the pieces.

After pickup
Where an old hot tub goes
A hot tub looks like one big piece of plastic. It’s actually several materials, and we separate them.
Metal recycled
Steel frames, pump motors, heaters and copper wiring go to scrap metal recycling.
Wood reused or recycled
Cedar cabinet panels and steps in decent shape can be reused. The rest is sorted with the wood waste.
Shell landfilled
The acrylic shell and spray foam can’t be recycled, so they go to the Delaware Solid Waste Authority’s Cherry Island Landfill.
When people call us
Selling, renovating or just done with it
Selling the house. A dead hot tub on the deck is a liability on a listing, not a feature. We take it out so the deck shows clean in the photos and on inspection day.
Replacing it. The new tub can’t go in until the old one is out. We remove it ahead of the delivery and leave the pad ready.
Deck or patio project. Rebuilding the deck starts with getting a heavy tub off it. We can haul the old decking boards in the same trip.
It just sits there. Plenty of tubs around Wilmington, Hockessin and Pike Creek haven’t run in years. If it’s only holding leaves and rainwater, it’s time.
FAQ
Hot tub removal questions
How much does hot tub removal cost in Wilmington, DE?
Most hot tub removals in Wilmington run $300 to $500, cut apart on site and hauled away, cover and steps included. A small two-person tub on a ground-level pad sits at the low end. A large six-seater on a raised deck with a narrow side gate sits at the high end. Swim spas are priced on site.
Do I need to drain and disconnect the hot tub first?
Yes. The tub has to be drained, and the power has to be shut off and disconnected at the breaker and the disconnect box. Most hot tubs are hardwired on a 240-volt circuit, so that part is a job for an electrician. Once it’s dry and dead, we handle everything else.
Where should I drain the water?
Leave the cover off for a few days without adding chemicals so the chlorine or bromine level drops, then drain it slowly onto your lawn or garden, not into the street or a storm drain. A cheap submersible pump with a garden hose makes it go much faster than the drain valve.
Can you get it out of a fenced backyard or off a deck?
That’s why we cut it apart. A whole hot tub won’t fit through most side gates, but sections of shell, cabinet and frame will. We carry the pieces out by hand, so there’s no crane and no heavy equipment rolling across your lawn.
Do you take the cover, steps and lifter?
Yes. The cover, steps, cover lifter and old filters and empty chemical bottles go with the tub at no extra charge. Full chemical containers have to go to a household hazardous waste collection instead.
What about the concrete pad underneath?
Most people leave the pad and use it for a patio or a shed. If you want it gone, ask for a quote when you call. Breaking up and hauling concrete is priced separately because disposal is charged by weight.
